Brandy settles with accident victim's children
Brandy has reached a settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit brought on behalf of the children of the woman who was killed in a 2006 car accident with the singer.
Awatef Aboudihaj's two children--who were then 15 and 11--will each receive $300,000, according to court papers filed today (6/2) in LA County Superior Court, TMZ.com has reported.
Aboudihaj died after her car was struck by Brandy's Range Rover near the interchange of LA's 405 and 101 freeways, causing a four-car pileup.
Three other suits still remain: Aboudihaj's husband, Marouane Hdidou, has yet to settle after rejecting the performer's $1.2 million settlement offered in February; a $50 million claim by Aboudihaj's parents; and a third by Donald Lite, who claims to have sustained serious and permanent injuries in the pileup.
The Los Angeles Police Department ruled that there was insufficient evidence that she'd committed vehicular manslaughter, so the singer faced no charges.
