Britney Spears brings 'Circus' back to North America
With a successful first leg of tour dates behind her, Britney Spears will return to North America this summer for another round of "The Circus Starring Britney Spears."
Currently in the midst of a European run, the pop superstar will kick off a second North American road trip Aug. 20 in Hamilton, Ontario. The 20-city outing will touch down in major markets throughout the US and parts of Canada, including two-night stands in New York (8/24-8/25) and Las Vegas (9/26-9/27) and return visits to Dallas (9/18), Boston (8/29) and Houston (9/16). The full schedule is below.
"I'm so excited to bring 'The Circus' back to North America," Spears said in a press release. "I've made some really cool changes to the show that I think my fans are really going to love. I also get to bring the show to some new cities we missed the first time around."
The $50-million production, which first got underway in New Orleans March 3 and will head to Australia in November, will feature music, magic and theatrics with a traveling cast of 50 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats. The extravagant production requires 60 tons of equipment packed aboard 34 trucks for the road trip.
To date, "The Circus" is the highest grossing North American tour of 2009, according to a press release.
Spears released her sixth studio set and the tour's namesake last December on her 27th birthday. The effort scaled the charts, earning the pop star her fifth No. 1 album and generating the chart-topping singles "Womanizer," "Kill the Lights" and "If U Seek Amy."
Meanwhile, Forbes magazine has ranked Spears at No. 13 on the publication's annual list of the World's Most Powerful Celebrities, which is based on earnings and media visibility.
