Pinback maps nightclub trek for fall
Indie rockers Pinback will headline a coast-to-coast nightclub tour this fall, after the band gets in some studio work on the follow-up to 2007's "Autumn of the Seraphs."
The San Diego, CA-based group--led by its two permanent members, Armistead Burwell (Zach) Smith IV and Rob Crow--kicks off the outing Oct. 17 in Tempe, AZ. The first half of the 25-city itinerary heads in a southerly direction, with the band eventually finding itself in Florida before working its way up the Atlantic coast and ultimately back toward home, wrapping things up Nov. 14 in Los Angeles at the tail end of a West Coast swing. Dates are below.
On the road, Pinback continues to support 2007's "Autumn of the Seraphs," its fourth full-length album and second for Touch and Go Records. The set follows 2004's "Summer In Abaddon," which was also recorded in the band's home studio.
"The biggest difference with this record is we made it sound more like we do live, so it's not as much of a shock when people hear us," Crow told Costa Mesa, CA-based newspaper the Daily Pilot last year. "Live, we are loud and have a lot of energy, but our records tend to have a reclusive, softer sound."
"Autumn of the Seraphs" landed Pinback its highest chart position on The Billboard 200 (No. 69), and reached No. 3 on the Top Independent Albums chart. A couple of songs from the record are streaming at the band's MySpace page.
The band is currently working on a new studio album, tentatively due next year, for the Temporary Residence label.
