Rodrigo y Gabriela time September dates to '11:11'
Acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have lined up some new headlining dates behind their forthcoming sophomore studio effort, "11:11."
The Mexican pair of Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero--both originally from Mexico City, but now living in Dublin, Ireland--will play five late-summer shows, beginning with a Sept. 16 date in New York City. The duo, whose plans include a June 28 appearance at Milwaukee, WI's Summerfest, will also hit Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles and Oakland, CA, on the trek. Details are included below.
Due in stores Sept. 8, "11:11" was recorded in Ixtapa, Mexico, and produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela themselves, with John Leckie (Radiohead, The Stone Roses) co-producing two of the tracks. The album was mixed in Wales and London by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Trivium).
The album, which includes guest appearances by Alex Skolnick of metal outfit Testament along with classical-guitar duo Strunz & Farah, follows the Rodrigo y Gabriela's self-titled 2006 debut, which was produced by Leckie and features guest contributions from violinist Roby Lakatos.
The folk-influenced duo--who also list metal acts such as Megadeth and Slayer as key influences--include covers of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion" on the album.
