Radiohead to play N.Y.C.'s Roseland Ballroom
Radiohead , whose “Kid A” hit North American shelves on Tuesday (10/3), has announced plans to perform at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom next Wednesday (10/11), according to a venue spokesperson. The performance will be the first of several North American appearances for the group.
Tickets for Radiohead’s Roseland performance will be made available on Tuesday morning (10/10) through both Ticketmaster and the Roseland Theater box office, according to the venue. The venue holds 3,900 people, according to Pollstar. (LiveDaily is a publication of Ticketmaster-CitySearch).
The Roseland show will precede Radiohead ’s Oct. 14 appearance on "Saturday Night Live."
Following its brief stint in New York City, the band is set to perform an Oct. 17 concert in Toronto and an Oct. 20 concert in Los Angeles. Both shows are sold-out. The group has not announced any further North American touring plans in support of "Kid A.”
According to the band’s European spokesperson, the group ran into some trouble with the European shipment of “Kid A.” About 150,000 copies of the disc had to be recalled after it was discovered that beginning of the CDs contained an excerpt of a live recording that was not supposed to be included on the album. No explanation of how the mistake occurred was offered.
The spokesperson could not confirm a rumor that the band may release its next album as soon as the spring of 2001, but did say “it is possible, as the songs are already recorded.”
The group is scheduled to perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (10/6-10/8) in Dublin, Ireland, before heading to the States.
