Cher to share the screen with Christina Aguilera

Cher reportedly has signed on for a role in "Burlesque,' a contemporary musical that also will star Christina Aguilera .

According to Variety, Aguilera will play "an ambitious small-town Iowa girl with a big voice who comes of age in a neo-burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard that's run by Tess (Cher), a former dancer who struggles to keep the club open and gives the young girl a chance to shine."

Both Cher and Aguilera are expected to sing in the upcoming film a release date for which has not been announced.

"Burlesque" will mark Cher's return to the silver screen after a 10-year hiatus; the singer/actress last appeared in 1999's "Tea with Mussolini."
