Paul McCartney to play Atlanta, Boston
Paul McCartney continues to build his non-tour into a respectable summer itinerary, adding a new August show--this one a benefit gig--in Atlanta's Piedmont Park, as well two August dates at Boston's Fenway Park.
The Atlanta concert, which benefits the Piedmont Park Conservancy, will take place Aug. 15 at The Meadow in Atlanta's sprawling urban park. A similar concert took place in 2007 with performances by Dave Matthews Band and the Allman Brothers. The DMB portion of the event was later released as a live CD/DVD, "Live at Piedmont Park."
Tickets for that show go on sale to the public Monday (6/29) at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster and LiveNation. Members of the Piedmont Park Conservancy will be allowed to buy tickets through a pre-sale event that begins today (6/25) at 10 a.m. ET. (LiveDaily is an operating unit of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which also owns Ticketmaster.)
The Fenway Park shows in Boston are set for Aug. 5 and 6, and tickets go on sale Monday (6/29) via LiveNation.
Word of the Atlanta and Boston concerts follows McCartney's recent announcement of his Aug. 1 appearance at suburban Washington, DC's FedExField, home of the NFL's Washington Redskins, as well as a third date in July at New York's CitiField.
McCartney's three concerts planned for CitiField starting July 17 will mark the first concerts at the stadium, which this year replaced now-demolished Shea Stadium as the home of baseball's New York Mets. The third date was added after the first two shows sold out within five minutes, according to promoter AEG Live
At all shows on his summer schedule, McCartney is expected to play a mix of classics from his solo catalog and by The Beatles, as well as some songs from "Electric Arguments," his album released last year under the alias The Fireman.
McCartney, who made his first US festival appearance earlier this year at Indio, CA's Coachella Festival, released his most recent album, "Memory Almost Full," in 2007.
