Tracy Chapman looks toward 'Bright Future'
Singer/songwriter Tracy Chapman will take to the road for a three-week summer run behind last fall's "Our Bright Future."
The US trek--Chapman's first in more than three years--begins with a performance July 31 in Boston, followed by visits to clubs and theaters in 13 cities through an Aug. 21 gig in San Francisco. On Aug. 5, the multi-platinum performer will make the tour's one Canadian stop at the Edmonton Folk Festival, where she will share the stage with fellow musicians Sarah McLachlan and Meaghan Smith. The full tour schedule is shown below.
Her band--guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Joe Gore, keyboardist Patrick Warren and drummer Dawn Richardson--will join Chapman on the North American outing, as well as on the preceding European run.
The four-time Grammy winner is supporting her eighth studio set, "Our Bright Future," which surfaced last November. Chapman co-produced the 11 new tracks with Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock).
Chapman has been in the spotlight for more than two decades, ever since her self-titled debut topped The Billboard 200 chart in 1988, selling more than 6 million copies in the US to date. "New Beginning," the performer's fourth release which surfaced in 1996, also made it into the Top 10 of The Billboard 200 and spawned the hit single "Give Me One Reason."
