Big Bad Voodoo Daddy spend rest of year on the road
Swing outfit Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will its recent release, "How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway," with an extensive US outing that spans the next nine months.
The lengthy road trip, which kicks off with a Fourth of July performance in Irvine, CA, ventures from coast to coast, stopping by theaters, casinos and fairgrounds in 49 cities through next spring. Details are shown below.
The big band-inspired group released the 11-track tribute album "How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway" in April. The record, which follows 2004's "Everything You Want for Christmas," marked the band's first recording in five years.
"I was 11 years old, and I was blown away; he had so much energy and so many great musicians," trumpeter Glen "The Kid" Marhevka said in a prepared statement regarding Cab Calloway. "This album concept seemed a perfect fit for us, because of Cab's visuals, performances and intense energy. As soon as we rehearsed and played these songs live, it was musically challenging and refreshing to all of us."
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy rose to fame in the late '90s with hit singles "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O," from their 1998 self-titled album.
