Blink-182 plays virtual concert

Blink-182 has added an unusual tour stop to its itinerary: A virtual showcase streaming live to fans' computers for the cost of a bag of chips.
The online event is tied to Doritos and promotes the company's "Late Night" line of chips. To access the two-song show (which features the band performing live with 3D enhancements), fans have to purchase a bag of the chips and put the marker from the bag in front of their computer's webcam.
According to Wired.com, moving and shaking the bag during the performance will trigger zooming and other interactive features during the performance. Likewise, noise picked up by the computer's microphone after the first song ends will reportedly influence how quickly the band comes back for their "encore" song.
The band recently joined Weezer to sign on as headliners to the Virgin Mobile Festival, which organizers have announced will be free this year. In line with the free-ticket announcement, Ticketmaster agreed to waive its fees and not charge a delivery fee for those tickets routed to the venue box office for will-call pickup.
The festival announcement is in line with the band's stated goal of making their reunion trek affordable. The group worked with Live Nation to offer lawn seats at an all-inclusive price of $20--no charge for parking, ticketing fees, tax, etc.--for each amphitheater show.
"We've worked very hard with the promoters to make possible something that has never been done by any major touring act--$20 tickets," singer/bassist Mark Hoppus said in May.
The summer/fall tour will also feature a handful of rotating support acts, including Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Panic At The Disco, The All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Chester French and Asher Roth.
