Health problems continue to plague Aerosmith
Boston-based rockers Aerosmith , who last month launched a summer co-headlining tour with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top, have postponed a total of five shows in recent days due an unspecified injury suffered by frontman Steven Tyler.
The injury--which, according to guitarist Joe Perry's Twitter feed, involves a muscle in one of Tyler's legs--led the group to postpone its July 1 show in Cincinnati; July 3 in Hershey, PA; July 5 in Virginia Beach, VA; tonight's (7/7) show in Raleigh, NC; and Thursday's (7/9) show in Charlotte, NC. The dates will be rescheduled soon, according to Aerosmith's website.
"Sincere apologies out 2 all Aero Fans reagrding (sic) the canceled shows," Perry wrote in a Twitter message posted Friday (7/3). "It really bums me out too-you have no idea. Pray 4 Steven's speedy return."
Tyler's injury is the latest in a long line of health woes that have plagued the group in recent years.
Last month, the group announced that guitarist Brad Whitford would have to sit out the initial dates of the band's summer tour due in order to recuperate from an unspecified surgery. (Whitford was due to make his return to the stage tonight in Raleigh.)
Bassist Tom Hamilton was sidelined in August of 2006 in order to undergo radiation treatment for throat cancer; frontman Steven Tyler announced the following month that he was battling hepatitis C; and guitarist Joe Perry underwent knee surgery earlier this year.
In related news, Perry announced via his Twitter feed that he has finished making his fifth solo album, a rock-oriented set that the guitarist said will surface this fall.
