Queensryche continues supporting 'American Soldier'
With the start of its summer trek just a couple weeks away, Queensryche has further filled out its tour schedule behind "American Soldiers."
The prog-metal rockers, who spent much of the spring on the road, will climb back on the tour bus for a July 22 show in Wilmington, DE. Since last check, 18 dates have been added to the itinerary, including appearances in Berkeley, CA (9/25); Universal City, CA (9/27); Pensacola, FL (10/17); Charlotte, NC (10/20); and Covington, KY (10/27), among others. The extensive run concludes with a spot alongside Tesla and Skidrow on the ShipRocked cruise, which sets sail Nov. 15 from Fort Lauderdale and stops by Jamaica and Grand Cayman before returning Nov. 20. The full itinerary is shown below.
"American Soldier," a concept album inspired by singer/songwriter Geoff Tate's interviews with US war veterans, surfaced in March and debuted at No. 25 on The Billboard 200. The record marked the band's 12th release and first since 2007's "Take Cover."
In related news, Tony Award-nominated actor/singer Adam Pascal, who plays Roger in the national tour of "Rent," is pursuing his dream of turning Queensryche's 1988 album "Operation: Mindcrime" into a stage musical. According to the band's website, the group has granted permission to use the music and has agreed to collaborate on the production, though the project is still in the early stages. No director, producer or music director has been named yet.
