Casting Crowns to stay busy on road through year's end

Christian rockers Casting Crowns have lined up an extensive run of dates throughout the remainder of the year as the band continues to support 2007's "The Altar and the Door."
After a few festival and fair appearances this summer, the group will launch its "The Whole World Hears" tour Sept. 17 in Rio Rancho, NM, with Christian worship leader and singer/songwriter Matt Redman onboard for most of the trek, which extends through early December. Details are included below.
"The Altar and the Door," the Georgia-based group's most recent studio effort, surfaced in 2007, debuting at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart behind Disney's "High School Musical 2."
"People were asking us if we were disappointed because we weren't No. 1," guitarist Juan DeVevo told LiveDaily in a recent interview. "I thought, "If I have to come in second, if it's behind 'High School Musical 2, that's OK."
The band released a live record last summer, "The Altar and the Door: Live," and followed it in October with "Peace on Earth," which contained 10 Christmas tunes and rose to the top slot on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart.
Casting Crowns recently took home three DOVE Awards: Group of the Year, Short Form Video and Christmas Album.
