Following a slew of postponed shows due to frontman Stephen Tyler's recent leg injury, Aerosmith [ tickets ] will return to the road tonight (7/15) in Atlanta minus bassist Tom Hamilton, who will sit out several dates while he recuperates from non-invasive surgery.

Hamilton, who underwent radiation treatment for throat cancer in Aug. 2006, will be temporarily replaced by David Hull, a member of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry's other band, the Joe Perry Project; Hull filled in for Hamilton during a portion of Aerosmith's 2006 Route of All Evil Tour following Hamilton's cancer treatment.

Along with the lineup change, this evening's performance will also feature the return of guitarist Brad Whitford, who bowed out of the initial tour stops in order to recuperate from an unspecified surgery.

According to the band's website, the seven July concerts postponed due to Tyler's injury--sustained while performing June 28 in Uncasville, CT--will be rescheduled. The new dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Boston rockers, who kicked off the "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Presents Aerosmith" tour alongside ZZ Top [ tickets ] last month, have dealt with a constant string of health problems over the last few years, including Hamilton's 2006 cancer diagnosis, Tyler's battle with hepatitis C in late 2006 and recent leg injury, and guitarist Perry's knee surgery earlier this year.
