This year's edition of the long-running Farm Aid [ tickets ] benefit concert is set for Oct. 4 in the St. Louis area, and will feature longtime mainstays--and Farm Aid board members-- Willie Nelson [ tickets ], Neil Young [ tickets ], John Mellencamp [ tickets ] and Dave Matthews [ tickets ].

The event will take place at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, MO, marking the first time in Farm Aid's 20-plus year history that it has taken place in Missouri.

"Farm Aid has deep roots in the Midwest that reach back to our first concert in Illinois in 1985," Farm Aid president Nelson said in a press release. "I'm looking forward to bringing my friends together on the Farm Aid stage to celebrate family farmers and the crucial work they do. Farmers do so much more than bring us the good food we all want to eat. America needs family farmers to revitalize our economy and make our country healthy."

Additional acts will be added to the bill, according to a press release. In addition to music, the event will again feature what Farm Aid bills as "Homegrown" concessons: family-farm identified, local and organic foods. The event's Homegrown Village will showcase "activities that give concertgoers a chance to meet farmers, get their hands dirty, and learn how family farmers are enriching our soil, protecting our water, and connecting us to our roots," organizers said in a statement.

Over its history, Farm Aid has raised nearly $35 million to support family farms, according to the organization.
