Formed in 1967, the American rock band REO Speedwagon is said to have taken its name from an old, hotrod flatbed truck/fire engine, manufactured by Oldsmobile founder Ransom Eli Olds [R.E.O.], called the REO Speed Wagon.

Though REO Speedwagon's heyday was nearly three decades ago, the group has found a new generation of fans. In an interview with Allentown PA's The Morning Call newspaper, Cronin said "There are people who come to our shows for the 1980s nostalgia; that's cool, but there's also a younger crowd who are there because their parents listened to us or they're just not into a lot of today's music."

Earlier this year, REO Speedwagon teamed up with fellow classic rockers Styx and .38 Special to tour the US, and REO has since also taken to the road solo. LiveDaily photographer Lyle A. Waisman took photos of the group last week (7/10) in Chicago, and here are some of his best shots.
