Sammy Hagar postpones initial tourdates

Sammy Hagar has postponed the first six dates of his upcoming U.S. tour, according to his record label. The tour, originally scheduled to kick off in Connecticut on Halloween, will now begin in Phoenix on Nov. 11.

In addition to the Oct. 31 date in Hartford, subsequent stops in New York City, Providence, R.I., Boston, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia have been postponed.

The string of Northeastern dates has been postponed so that the tour can be rebooked into venues that can accommodate Hagar’s stage set, according to a statement from Beyond Records, parent company of Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Records. The stage set replicates the interior of Hagar’s Mexican nightclub, the Cabo Wabo Cantina.

“It was concluded that The Cabo Wabo Cantina production was jeopardized … Sammy looks forward to [rescheduling] these cities on the second leg of the tour,” reads the statement from Beyond Records. The postponed Northeastern dates will take place during the second leg of Hagar’s tour, set for early 2001, according to the label. No specific dates have been set.

Hagar’s latest album “Ten 13” is due in stores on Oct. 24. “Serious JUJU,” the album’s first single, reached No. 13 on trade publication Radio & Records’ rock chart last week, which measures national radio airplay.
