Macy Gray plots November theater tour
Macy Gray has mapped out a string of headlining U.S. tourdates for next month, according to her official website. The ten-date road trip is scheduled to get underway on Nov. 3 in Knoxville, Tenn., and is currently set to run until Nov. 19.
After the opening date in Tennessee, Gray’s tour will see the R&B/soul songstress headlining theaters throughout the Northeast, with stops planned in Washington, D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Atlantic City and Ledyard, Conn.
Subsequent stops in Detroit, Chicago and Minneapolis are also planned, with a final stop in Houston on Nov. 19.
In addition to her upcoming tour, Gray is also scheduled to perform at an upcoming fashion awards ceremony being hosted by Vogue magazine and VH1. Gray herself is nominated in the ceremony’s Most Fashionable Artist--Female category, according to VH1.com. Performances by Kid Rock, Destiny’s Child and Lenny Kravitz are also scheduled. The ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast on VH1 on Oct. 20.
Gray is touring in support of her debut album “On How Life Is.” The disc was certified triple-platinum last month by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping more than 3 million copies. The video for the album’s single “I Try” garnered Gray the Best New Artist award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards ceremony.
