Sunset Strip Music Festival expands, honors Ozzy Osbourne
The second annual Sunset Strip Music Festival has expanded, taking over six legendary West Hollywood, CA, venues, along with outdoor stages and an opening night tribute to rock icon Ozzy Osbourne .
Scheduled for Sept. 10-12, the music festival will feature Chris Cornell , Kottonmouth Kings , Shwayze , Shiny Toy Guns and The Donnas , among others, performing in one of six Sunset Strip spots--the Cat Club, House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go.
Thursday evening will include a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who in 1970 kicked off his first US tour with Black Sabbath with a five-night stand at Whisky A Go-Go.
On Saturday, a three-block portion of the famous Strip--between Doheny Dr. and San Vicente Blvd.--will be closed and two concert stages will be erected, along with food and drink vendors.
"We have taken the best of The Strip and squeezed it into three blocks," Roxy owner Nic Adler said in a press release. "More than 20 bands during the day, performances in the venues two outdoor stages--all on the world famous Sunset Strip. It's about time."
Other scheduled performers include Pepper, LMFAO, Unwritten Law, Fishbone, Iglu & Hartly, Living Things, The Ringers, The Pricks, Nico Stai and Thenewno2. More will be announced at the event website as the weekend approaches.
