Madonna preps for greatest-hits 'Celebration'
Madonna will follow up her in-progress world tour behind last year's "Hard Candy" with "Celebration," a hits compilation featuring two new songs.
Currently in the midst of a European leg that wraps Sept. 1 in Israel, the pop superstar will unveil "Celebration" stateside Sept. 28. The Warner Bros. Records release, which mixes classic hits ("Everybody," "Express Yourself," "Vogue") with two new songs--will be available in two forms: a single CD and a double-disc set. A DVD entitled "Celebration," containing several of Madonna's best music videos, will also be released.
The Material Girl co-produced the lead single and title track with British producer/DJ Paul Oakenfold, who is currently providing opening support for the European segment of the "Sticky & Sweet" tour. The new song will hit radio stations and dance clubs Aug. 3.
Madonna has racked up 37 No. 1 singles and seven No. 1 albums over the course of her 26-year career. The award-winning songstress has remained in the headlines since her divorce from Guy Ritchie last fall, including coverage of her rocky adoption of a four-year-old Malawian girl, her fall from a horse this spring and, most recently, the stage collapse at a French venue that killed two workers.
