Jam-rockers Umphrey's McGee [ tickets ] have added a slate of late-summer/early fall headlining dates as they continue to back their latest studio set, February's "Mantis."

Following an Aug. 15 appearance at the Mulberry Mountain Harvest Music Festival in Ozark, AR, the six-member group launches the headlining run Aug. 27 and 28 in Urbana, IL. The outing plows through the western half of the US in September before wrapping up Oct. 30-31 with an appearance at the jam-oriented Las Tortugas festival near Yosemite National Park in California. On the road, Umphrey's McGee continues to support the group's fifth studio effort, "Mantis," which surfaced in January. The 10-track set, recorded over a 20-month period mainly at Manny Sanchez's I.V. Lab Studios in Chicago, clocks in at a somewhat economical 54 minutes

"We didn't want to overload the record with 80 minutes of music," singer/guitarist Jake Cinninger said in a press statement. "We wanted to make it feel a certain way, so we trimmed away a lot of the fat."

The band also released bonus content for the album through an elaborate pre-order system; each time a certain threshold of pre-orders was reached, a new "level" of bonus material was unlocked and made available to fans who had purchased the album in advance. Ultimately, more than 60 bonus tracks were unlocked, consisting mostly of live cuts, unreleased outtakes and demos. More info on the bonus material can be found at the band's website.

A live DVD, simply titled "Umphrey's McGee - Live" and recorded during their 2007 performance for PBS's "Soundstage," surfaced in June. The disc includes a 13-song concert, as well as six other songs not shown during the PBS broadcast, which aired last February.
