Charts: Radiohead claims No. 1 with "Kid A"

Radiohead ’s “Kid A” (Capitol) charges into the top spot on the album chart in its first week out, pushing Mystikal’s “Let’s Get Ready” (Jive) down to No. 2, according to industry sources. The latest from Green Day and Scarface also score Top 10 debuts this week.

“Kid A,” the follow-up to Radiohead’s 1997 disc “OK Computer,” enjoyed similar success when it debuted atop the U.K. album chart earlier this week. Radiohead is in the U.S. promoting the new album, and has a performance scheduled at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on Wednesday night (10/11). The group will also appear on "Saturday Night Live" this Saturday (Oct. 14), and has subsequent, sold-out concerts scheduled in Toronto and Los Angeles.

The big first week for Radiohead was enough to push Mystikal’s “Let’s Get Ready”--which debuted at No. 1 last week--down a notch, placing it just ahead of Nelly’s “Country Grammar,” which climbs a spot to No. 3 from its No. 4 slot of last week.

Green Day, meanwhile, enters the charts at No. 4 with “Warning” (Reprise), the follow-up to the group’s 1997 disc “Nimrod.” According to the band’s publicist, the new album sold 155,000 copies in its first week, enough to push 98 Degrees’ "Revelation" (Universal) down from its No. 2 position of last week to No. 5 this week.

Madonna’s “Music” (Warner Bros.) continues to slip down the ranks of the Top 10, going from No. 3 last week to No. 6 this week. The album manages to stay ahead of Scarface’s “Last of a Dying Breed” (Virgin), though, which debuts at No. 7 this week.

Creed’s “Human Clay” (Wind Up), which has been on the chart for over a year now, moves two spots downward this week to No. 8, while the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out” moved up to No. 9 from its No. 10 position last week.

Rounding out the Top 10 is 3 Doors Down’s “Better Life” (Universal), which ends up at No. 10 after spending the past two weeks at No. 9.
