Aerosmith postpones Canadian tour
With frontman Steven Tyler still on the mend from injuries sustained when he fell from a concert stage last week, Aerosmith has postponed all five dates of their planned Canadian trek.
The injury-and-illness-plagued Boston-based rockers plan to reschedule the concerts--which were set to take place from Aug. 7 through Aug. 15 in Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver--according information posted at the group's website.
As reported last week, Tyler fell off the stage during an Aug. 5 concert at the Buffalo Chip Campgrounds in Sturgis, SD. (See video footage below.) He was airlifted to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken shoulder and given stitches for a head laceration.
In related news, Tyler's daughter Mia, in the wake of Tyler's mishap, issued to TMZ a press release in which she addressed false rumors that the singer had died as a result of his injuries.
"The Demon of Screamin' is not dead," she wrote. "Yes, it's true, my dad walked the wrong way and landed on his head. He broke his left shoulder and had to get a few stitches in his noggin'. He is now at home resting and will be back on his feet just as soon as he can to rock the world once more."
As it stands, Aerosmith is scheduled to resume its summer tour Aug. 17 in Auburn, WA, and dates are lined up through mid-September. Details are included below.
Tyler's spill is the latest in an ever-growing string of mishaps and health problems that have plagued Aerosmith as of late. The band postponed several shows earlier this year after Tyler suffered a leg injury, guitarist Brad Whitford sat out the beginning of the current tour leg to recuperate from surgery he underwent after reportedly hitting his head while exiting his Ferrari, bassist Tom Hamilton has missed several recent shows as he recuperates from what his publicist called "non-invasive surgery.," and Perry underwent knee surgery earlier this year.
Hamilton underwent radiation treatment for throat cancer in 2006, and Tyler announced he was battling hepatitis C in late 2006.
