Suzanne Vega lines up summer dates
Singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega will launch a slate of North American headlining dates this week as she continues to support her latest studio album.
After getting underway with a festival appearance last weekend in Pittsfield, MA, Vega's latest jaunt continues Aug. 20 in Albuquerque, NM. The outing stretches through early September, after which the performer will take a short break and return for a few dates in Montreal and the Boston area slated for early November. Details are included below.
On the road, Vega continues to support 2007's "Beauty & Crime," her seventh studio album and first since 2001's "Songs in Red and Gray." The disc, recorded in both New York and London and produced by Jimmy Hogarth (Sia, Corinne Bailey Rae), marks her debut for the Blue Note label.
The album, which is Vega's first album not released by A&M Records after a two-decade relationship, features a number of guest contributors, including singer/songwriter KT Tunstall, Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo, and Vega's teenage daughter, Ruby Froom.
Vega recently contributed a song to the currently unreleased Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse collaboration "Dark Night of the Soul." Vega's contribution to the album, "The Man Who Played God," was inspired by a biography of Pablo Picasso, according to a press release.
