Daughtry prepares for fall arena run
Alt-rockers Daughtry have laid out plans for the first leg of the group's US arena tour behind last month's "Leave This Town."
The North Carolina-based quintet will hit the road beginning Oct. 19 in Topeka, KS, stopping by arenas in 36 cities from coast to coast. The trek, which includes supporting acts Theory of a Deadman and Cavo, runs through a Dec. 20 stop in Evansville, IN. The full schedule is shown below.
The band is in the middle of a 14-date club and theater run, which continues tonight (8/19) in Los Angeles and wraps Aug. 22 in Las Vegas. The band postponed last night's (8/18) concert in Tempe, AZ, because frontman/namesake Chris Daughtry has viral laryngitis. The Phoenix show has been rescheduled for Oct. 13. Tonight's show will go on as scheduled in Los Angeles, according to Daughtry's Twitter feed.
"We dreamed about how it would feel playing these songs to packed arenas, and we're excited to get our chance," Chris Daughtry said of the upcoming arena dates in a press release. "We have a great show planned and can't wait to hit the road to share it with our fans."
"Leave This Town," Daughtry's sophomore set and the follow-up to the group's 2006's eponymous album, debuted atop The Billboard 200 and is currently charting at No. 6 on the magazine's top albums chart.
Daughtry debuted the new studio effort's first single, "No Surprise," live on "American Idol" in May. The song, which is currently streaming at the band's MySpace page, peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
