Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions map fall tour

Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions will play their first live shows in eight years this fall to support the duo's second studio album, "The Devil Softly."

Sandoval, also of alt-rockers Mazzy Star , and her Warm Inventions partner, My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm O Ciosoig, will launch the outing Sept. 21 in Portland, OR, backed onstage by Irish band Dirt Blue Gene. There are currently 14 cities scheduled for the trek, with an Oct. 16 finale set in Atlanta. Details are included below.

Due in stores Sept. 29, "The Devil Softly" follows the pair's one and only other studio release, 2001's "Bavarian Fruit Bread."

"We just make music for ourselves," O Ciosoig explained in the band's online bio, referring to the leisurely pace of the duo's recorded output. "We don't really pay attention to what's going on in the big world when it comes to pop music or anything."

Both performers have also been spending time tending to their day jobs lately, with My Bloody Valentine hitting the festival circuit last year and Mazzy Star continuing to work on a new studio album, which would be the band's first since 1996's "Among My Swan."

"It's almost finished," Sandoval said of the album in a press release, "but when it will be coming out, I don't know."
