Them Crooked Vultures plot inaugural run
A month after announcing its formation, hard-rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures has unveiled plans for a two-week trek of the eastern US this fall.
Them Crooked Vultures--comprised of Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones--will kick off their inaugural outing with an Oct. 1 performance in Austin, TX, followed by a gig at the Austin City Limits Festival the next evening (10/2). The trip includes stops in major markets throughout the eastern half of the nation, including Nashville (10/5), Detroit (10/8) and Boston (10/11). One Canadian show, scheduled for Oct. 9 in Toronto, also made the books. Details are shown below.
A weeklong European leg is slated for mid-December. More information about international dates can be found at the band's MySpace page.
The trio of esteemed musicians made their concert debut last month at a Chicago club following the final day of Lollapalooza. Rumors about the possible formation have been circulating since Grohl suggested the possibility in a 2005 interview with Mojo magazine.
"The next project that I'm trying to initiate involves me on drums, Josh Homme on guitar and John Paul Jones playing bass," Grohl told the magazine. "That's the next album. That wouldn't suck."
So far, the group has played just one show in North America, an Aug. 9 gig at the Chicago club Metro. Announcements about the band are being posted on occasion at the group's MySpace, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
