Ringo Starr extends summer tour with West Coast dates

Ringo Starr [ tickets ] has fleshed out the West Coast leg of his summer tour in support of his latest studio album, "Y Not," which surfaced in January.

The former Beatle and the latest incarnation of his All Starr Band--guitarist Rick Derringer, bassist Richard Page, guitarist Wally Palmar, keyboardist/saxophonist Edgar Winter, keyboardist Gary Wright and drummer Gregg Bissonette--kick off the outing June 24 and 25 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Currently set for 30 cities, the trek arrives on the West Coast in late July, and concludes with an Aug. 7 show in Los Angeles. Dates are at right.

"Y Not," Starr's 15th studio set, arrived in stores in January. The album's lead single, "Walk With You," features vocals from former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney, who also contributes bass to the track "Peace Dream."

"He came over to play bass on another track called 'Peace Dream,'" Starr told Rolling Stone recently of Macca's contributions, "and then he heard ‘Walk With You' and said 'I think I have something for this, gimme a pair of cans and I’ll be on the mic.'"

The new release, which follows 2008's "Liverpool 8," also features special guest performances by Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart, Benmont Tench, Don Was, Joss Stone, Ben Harper and Glen Ballard, among others.
