Motown sets sail

The Four Tops , Freda Payne and The Dramatics will be among the artists performing on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship to help celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the Motown Sound, according to a press release.

The "Heatwave Celebrity Cruise," which will set sail from Miami to the Bahamas Jan. 8, also will offer travelers a chance to mix and mingle with the artists during a number of activities throughout the cruise, including a cocktail party and a karaoke and trivia night.

In addition to the previously mentioned artists, several other former Motown acts have been invited to attend the party on the sea, including the Original Vandellas, The Miracles and The Contours with Joe Billingslea.

The Four Tops, Payne and The Dramatics also are among the artists on the newly-released CD "Motor City Hits: Real Music is Back." The disc includes the last recordings made by Levi Stubbs with the Four Tops and also introduces the first new recordings made in decades by the Four Tops, The Miracles and The Contours with Joe Billingslea and others.
