Better Than Ezra to road-test new material this fall

Better Than Ezra is set to head out on a short fall tour beginning on Wednesday night (10/18) in St. Louis, according to the band’s manager. The eight-date jaunt is scheduled to run until a Nov. 16 stop at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif.

“[The purpose of] this tour is to just let the guys get out on the road and try out some of the new material they've written,” said manager John Isbell.

Better than Ezra recently left Elektra Records, and is in talks with several labels, Isbell said. He added that the group hopes to have a new album out by next summer.

Follwing the tour kick-off in St. Louis, October stops are also set for Indianapolis, Nashville and Birmingham, Ala. November shows in Jackson, Miss., Baton Rouge, La., and San Francisco, Calif., lead up to the final date in West Hollywood.

The Nov. 19 stop in Indianapolis and the Nov. 20 stop in Nashville will be free shows, according to the band's official website.

“Deluxe,” Better Than Ezra’s major-label debut for Elektra, was released in 1995 and featured the Top 40 hit “Good.” The album peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping over one million copies.

The group followed “Deluxe” with “Friction, Baby” in 1996 and “How Does Your Garden Grow?” in 1998.
