U2 members head up guest list for AIDS benefit
U2 's Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen--along with Courtney Love, Scarlett Johansson, Laurie Anderson and many others--are scheduled to appear during an Oct. 4 benefit at New York's Carnegie Hall. The event aims to raise awareness for the AIDS charity (RED) and to raise funds for The Global Fund, whose mission is to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Africa.

Gavin Friday, a childhood friend of Bono, is an Irish singer, composer and painter, and founding member of the goth-rock group The Virgin Prunes. Willner has produced albums for Marianne Faithfull, Lou Reed, William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, and has assembled tribute albums and live events saluting artists like Leonard Cohen, Thelonius Monk, Tim Buckley, Edgar Allen Poe and Marquis de Sade.
