Devo hits the road with reissues, new record deal

After inking a new partnership with their original record label, New Wave icons Devo will head out this fall to offer live performances of two of their classic albums in full.

The band will hit the road Nov. 3 for a pair of shows in Los Angeles, the same day that Warner Bros. Records releases deluxe, expanded versions of 1978's "Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!" and 1980's "Freedom of Choice." The reissues will be available on CD and vinyl.

The tour will continue through seven cities, concluding Nov. 23-24 in Toronto, with the band performing "Are We Not Men?" in its entirety on the first night of each stop and "Freedom of Choice" on the second night in all cities. Fans who purchase tickets online will receive three demos of early songs from the band's vaults. More information is posted at the group's website.

"We are excited to embark on Devo's latest sonic subversion with the label that first unleashed us on the unsuspecting public," the band's Gerald Casale said in a press statement. "De-evolution is real!"

"We wouldn't be doing it if it weren't in our genes!" added Mark Mothersbaugh.

According to a press release, the deal with Warner Bros. includes "recorded music, touring, merchandising, web services, promotion, ecommerce, sponsorships, licensing, and endorsements."

The iconic band, featuring Mark Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale, Bob Casale, Bob Mothersbaugh and Josh Freese, has been in the recording studio in recent months working on the group's ninth studio album, and first since 1990's "Smooth Noodle Maps." The still-untitled album is currently set for release early next year.
