Slipknot celebrates anniversary with fall tour

With a European festival jaunt and late-summer trek of the US now complete, masked metal-heads Slipknot have added a three-week North American run to their fall schedule in celebration of their 10-year anniversary.
The 12-city tour begins Oct. 10 in Seattle, visiting amphitheaters and auditoriums along the West Coast and parts of Canada through a Halloween performance (10/31) in Las Vegas. The Deftones will provide opening support for eight concerts, beginning with the Oct. 13 performance in Portland, OR, and running through the Oct. 24 show in San Bernardino, CA. "All Hope is Gone," the nu-metal band's fourth studio album, surfaced last August. The most recent set--the group's first collection of new material since 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)"--earned the band its first No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200.
Slipknot is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the band, which got its start in 1999 with its self-titled debut. The Grammy Award winners released a special-edition boxed set Sept. 8 in honor of the anniversary--a two-disc set featuring Slipknot's debut album, 10 bonus tracks and a live concert DVD with a 50-minute documentary.
