New Michael Jackson single due Oct. 12, album follows

The title track to the upcoming Michael Jackson feature film "This Is It," a previously unreleased single, will be available Oct. 12, according to Sony Music Entertainment. The song features backing vocals by The Jacksons, Michael's brothers.

In addition, a double album, also titled "This Is It," is due in North American stores on Oct. 27 (Oct. 26 internationally). Two versions of the title track will be featured on Disc 1 of the album, along with the original masters of Jackson's hits in the order they appear in the film. Disc 2 will contain the previously unreleased poem "Planet Earth," as well as previously unreleased versions of additional Jackson hits.

Jackson died due to an overdose of prescription drugs on June 25, just as he was finishing rehearsals in Los Angeles for a sold-out run of 50 comeback concerts at London's O2 Arena.

The "This Is It" film begins a two-week run in theaters on Oct. 28. The film captures the rehearsals for his London shows.
