Radiohead's Thom Yorke to play LA solo shows
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has assembled an all-star band to help him play a pair of solo headlining shows early next month in Los Angeles.
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, longtime Radiohead producer/associate Nigel Godrich, R.E.M./Beck drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco will join the singer during his Oct. 4-5 shows at LA's Orpheum Theatre, which will be Yorke's first US appearances since Radiohead's 2008 summer tour.
Tickets for the two shows went on sale Tuesday (9/29) and are available online through Ticketmaster. (LiveDaily is an operating unit of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which also owns Ticketmaster.)
"In the past couple of weeks, I've been getting a band together for fun to play the 'Eraser' stuff live and the new songs etc ... to see if it could work," Yorke posted at Radiohead's website.
"We don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ... well ... we haven't got that much material yet," he added.
Yorke released his first solo album, "The Eraser," in 2006. Earlier this month, he released a Godrich-produced dual A-side single on 12" vinyl, "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses / The Hollow Earth," through his band's website. A digital-download version is planned for early October.
