DJ AM's death ruled an accidental OD
One month after he was found dead in his New York City apartment, DJ A.M. 's death has been deemed the result of an accidental overdose.
According to published reports, the New York medical examiner's office yesterday (9/29) ruled that the late disc jockey--whose real name was Adam Goldstein--died from an accidental overdose of cocaine and prescription drugs. The examiner's toxicology report said that Goldstein had ingested OxyContin, Hydrocodone or Vicodin, Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Benadryl and Levamisole, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The 36-year-old Goldstein was found dead in his apartment on Aug. 28. In recent years, he had said publicly that he had abused crack in his 20s, but had since gotten sober. Shortly before his death, he taped an addiction-intervention reality series for MTV dubbed "Gone Too Far."
Last year, Goldstein and friend Travis Barker of Blink-182 survived a deadly plane crash that killed four other people. Goldstein had reportedly been sober for more than a decade prior to that incident, but subsequently began using prescription medication to overcome his fear of flying, as well as to deal with anxiety and the pain associated with the second- and third-degree burns he suffered in the crash.
