Kenny Wayne Shepherd unleashes fall road trip
Blues musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd is set to embark on a sporadic fall tour of the US that runs into early 2010.
The Louisiana-born blues-rocker kicks off the outing tonight (10/1) with a performance in Kansas City, MO, followed by shows at clubs and casinos in 11 cities through late March. The itinerary also includes a week-long journey aboard the Mexico-bound Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise Oct. 17-24. The full schedule is shown below.
"10 Days Out: Blues From the Backroads," Shepherd's most recent release and fifth studio effort, surfaced in 2007. The set features the singer/guitarist collaborating with other established musicians on well-known covers, as well as a documentary DVD chronicling a road trip Shepherd made during which he sought out blues musicians and jammed with them.
In 1999, Shepherd unveiled "The Place You're In," his first studio album in five years. The record peaked at No. 101 on The Billboard 200 and spawned two Top 30 singles--"Alive" and "The Place You're In"--on the magazine's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
Last month, Shepherd headlined the 30th annual Long Beach Blues Festival, which raises money for the publicly-supported jazz-and-blues station KJAZZ.
