Kanye West, Lady Gaga call off tour

Kanye West 's three-month co-headlining trek with Lady Gaga , billed as the "Fame Kills" Tour, has been canceled, according to concert promoter Live Nation.

Although the reason for the cancellation was not announced immediately by Live Nation or either artists' representatives, West told NBC's Jay Leno last month that he planned to "take some time off" following his live outburst during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech during September's MTV Video Music Awards broadcast.

The Leno appearance came before West and Lady Gaga announced plans for what would have been a 34-city tour kicking off Nov. 10 in Phoenix and stretching through late next January.

According to Live Nation, fans who have already bought tickets for the outing will be able to get refunds at the point of purchase. Tickets purchased online and over the phone will be refunded automatically through the purchasers' credit card companies.

Gossip site TMZ.com is reporting that the tour was canned owing to poor ticket sales, while Lady Gaga's choreographer, Laurieann Gibson, posted on her Twitter account that "creative differences" between West and Gaga forced the tour's cancellation.

West drew criticism from many quarters last month when he interrupted 19-year-old Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video by grabbing the microphone from her hands and insisting that the award should have gone to Beyonce for "Single Ladies."

West took to his blog in the days following the incident, at first seeming to defend his actions, before ultimately apologizing to the young country music star. West later deleted all mentions of the incident, including the apologies, from his website.

"So many celebrities, they never take the time off," West told Leno last month on the premiere episode of "The Jay Leno Show," the former "Tonight Show" host's new primetime offering. "I've never taken the time off to really--you know, just music after music, and tour after tour. I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt. My dream of what awards shows are supposed to be--'cause, and I don't try to justify it because I was just in the wrong. That's period.

"But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I'm going to make it through the rest of this life, how I'm going to improve."
