Vampire Weekend rallies ahead of 'Contra'
New York indie-rockers Vampire Weekend will embark on a short West Coast tour next month in anticipation of their sophomore set, "Contra."
Before taking on California, the quartet with perform an Oct. 8 show in Toronto. The swing along the West Coast kicks off Nov. 2 in Long Beach, followed by seven shows in clubs throughout the state by mid-month. Details are below.
Vampire Weekend will unveil "Contra," the band's sophomore studio effort, Jan. 12. The forthcoming album contains 10 tracks, according to the band's MySpace page. The first single, "Horchata," is currently available for free download at the group's website.
The new set will follow the group's eponymous 2008 debut, which sold more than 27,000 copies during its first week and debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
Early last year, Vampire Weekend became the first band ever to be photographed for the cover of Spin Magazine before releasing its debut, according to the publication.
