Moby Gallery Spotlight: Chicago, IL - Sept. 30, 2009
What do David Lynch and Moby have in common? Quite a bit, as it turns out. For one thing, Moby's new album, "Wait For Me," was directly inspired by Lynch, a longtime hero of the musician, after he heard the director speak at The British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
In a sit-down interview at LiveDaily HQ this summer, Moby talked about the impetus for the new material. "[Lynch] was talking about creativity and how--I'm paraphrasing, but essentially, how creativity shouldn't be judged by how well it accommodates the marketplace." As a result, the new album is a very personal collection of songs, produced with little regard for its potential commercial value. The icing on the cake for Moby: David Lynch himself directed the video for the track "Shot in the Back of the Head."
Currently making his way to California, fans can catch Moby live on Monday (10/12) in San Diego, Wednesday (10/14) in Los Angeles and Thursday (10/15) in San Francisco. LiveDaily photographer Lyle A. Waisman attended his show in Chicago last week (9/30), and here are some of his shots.
