Rooney moves out of recording studio, onto road this fall

Alt-rockers Rooney will head out on the road this fall after the band puts the finishing touches on its new album, which it hopes to unveil to fans early next year.

The Southern California group kicks off the outing near home, launching the trek Nov. 27 in Los Angeles. The 12-city road trip currently winds down Dec. 20 in Dallas. Dates are below.

On the road, Rooney continues to support its 2007 sophomore set, "Calling the World," which debuted at No. 42 on The Billboard 200 with sales of about 15,000 copies in its first week.

The band has spent time recently in the recording studio working on material for a possible new album and EP, both of which are slated to come "early next year," according to a message posted last month via the group's Twitter account.

"All of the music is done being recorded, and we have selected the songs that will go onto the album," the band posted on its website in July. "We are working with a cool mixer, and getting through roughly 1 song per day." The mixer in question is Dave Trumflo, who has worked with Wilco and Grandaddy in the past, among others.
