Less Than Jake maps fall, winter dates

Ska punkers Less Than Jake are beginning to assemble a fall/winter headlining tour in support of the group's most recent studio album, last year's "GNV FLA."

The Gainesville, FL-based band will play its traditional hometown Halloween show Oct. 31, then kick off a headlining stretch Nov. 14 in Baltimore. Currently, the outing is constructed to run through a Dec. 13 show in Atlanta; the group has periodically been issuing tour updates through its Twitter account.

Thirteen years after the band's major-label debut, 1995's "Pezcore," the members of Less Than Jake managed to extricate themselves from their record contract to release last year's "GNV FLA" on their own Sleep It Off Records imprint.

"After a decade and a half of being in the band, we are now our own bosses for real and the excitement of that can peel paint off the walls," drummer Vinnie Fiorello said of the band's newfound independence in a press release.

In addition to the new material, Less Than Jake has also been re-releasing albums from its catalog, including "Pezcore," 1996's "Losers, Kings and Things We Don't Understand" and 2002's "Goodbye Blue and White," as well as 2004's "The People's History of Less Than Jake" DVD. All of the re-releases come with new artwork and bonus DVDs of previously unreleased material.

"We wanted to start with 'Losers, Kings, And Things We Don't Understand,' which was our first recorded material as a band," Vinnie said in the band's online bio. "These literally are some of the first songs we recorded together, and it seemed obvious that it should be one of the first releases on our newly started record label Sleep It Off."
