Paul Weller arrested on rape charge

LONDON-- Paul Weller was arrested in conjunction with an alleged rape, and released on police bail, according to the BBC. He was brought in for questioning by police after a 36-year-old woman accused him of raping her four years ago at a party in Farnham, England.

Weller has denied the charges, and his upcoming U.K. tour is scheduled to go ahead as planned. The string of six dates will commence at the Arts Centre in Poole, England, on Oct. 28.

The rape inquiry follows the former Jam and Style Council frontman’s cancellation of his October U.S. tour due to prohibitive costs.
