Madonna plans show at New Yorks Roseland Ballroom
Though she has no immediate plans to tour, Madonna will perform a free Nov. 5 concert at Roseland Ballroom in New York "as a special thank-you to her fans," Warner Bros. Records announced.
The pop icon rarely plays live concerts, and is capable of selling out venues several times the size of Roseland.
"This is a chance for me to get my feet wet on the stage again and a way to say thank you to an intimate group of my fans for all their support over the years," Madonna said in a statement. "It's a party that 3,000 people are invited to and I am going to sing a few songs at my party."
Perry Farrell, best known as the frontman of Janes Addiction and Porno for Pyros, will be among the evenings DJs, and vocalist Beth Orton is also scheduled to make an appearance.
Tickets for the show will be given away by radio stations the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut tri-state area. No tickets will be sold.
Madonnas month-old album "Music" has been certified double platinum (two million copies shipped in the U.S.) by the Recording Industry Association of America. Both the album and its title-track single reached No. 1 on the charts at the same time, a first for the artist, according to Warner Bros.
The follow-up single to "Music" will be the track "Dont Tell Me. The video for the track will be directed by Jean Baptiste Mondino, who also directed videos for Madonnas "Open Your Heart" and "Human Nature."
