Metallica adds $50,000 to reward for missing concertgoer

Metallica has offered an additional $50,000 to the reward for any information about the 20-year-old Virgina Tech student that went missing after she left the band's Oct. 17 concert at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville. The band's contribution upped the reward to $150,000, hoping to encourage someone to come forward with legitimate information that will help police determine what happened to Morgan Dana Harrington.

Harrington (pictured) left the arena during the concert and later called her friends inside the venue to tell them she could not get back in. The arena, like many concert venues, doesn't allow re-entry during shows. Lt. Joe Rader of the Virginia State Police told the Charlottesville Daily Progress that Harrington phoned her friends from outside the venue, telling them not to worry and she would try to find a way to get home.

Police are now treating the investigation as a criminal matter, though they say there's still no evidence that a crime has been committed, according to local news coverage.

Authorities are asking concertgoers to review photographs and video footage shot at the concert to see if anyone resembling Harrington is visible. Harrington is about 5' 6" and weighs about 120 pounds. She has long blond hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a black T-shirt with "Pantera" across it in tan letters, a black mini skirt, black tights and black knee-high boots.

Metallica posted a statement at its website saying the band is deeply concerned about Harrington's disappearance. The site also features a description of Harrington, two photos of her and a copy of the Crime Stoppers "Missing" poster.

The band encouraged anyone with information to contact the Virgina State police at (434) 352-3425 or the UVA Police at (434) 352-3467 or police@virginia.edu.

Metallica's statement closed by saying, "Our thoughts are with Morgan and her family for her safe return."

LiveDaily encourages its readers to forward the link to Metallica's website to anyone who may have been at the concert or may have information about Harrington's disappearance.
