Eric Clapton bows out of Rock Hall anniversary show, Jeff Beck in

Jeff Beck will take the place of Eric Clapton at this weekend's (10/29-30) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert in New York because Clapton, who was scheduled to perform on the second night (10/30) of the Rock Hall's 25th anniversary show, is recuperating from gallstone surgery, according to Clapton's camp.

The event's website reports that Beck along with some special guests will share the stage with Aretha Franklin, Metallica and U2 on Friday (10/30). The preceding night (10/29), Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Simon & Garfunkel and Stevie Wonder, among others, will perform.

A full list of entertainers for each show is listed below.

Proceeds from the shows, which will be helmed by Joel Gallen, director and producer of the Hall's regular induction ceremonies, and the MTV Movie Awards for almost a decade (1996-2005), will go towards creating a permanent endowment for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Museum, according to a press release.

Four hours of highlights from the shows will be culled for a special to be broadcast on HBO next month. The concerts will be curated by an all-star creative team including Tom Hanks, Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner and former Band member Robbie Robertson to tell the story of rock and roll through live performances and filmed segments, according to a press release.

The anniversary celebration has extended beyond the two October concerts, with both a book and a deluxe DVD released earlier this year. The book, "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: The First 25 Years," hit shelves in September, while Time Life issued a nine-DVD boxed set of highlights of past induction ceremonies in August.
