Fights break out at Australian Akon, T-Pain concert
One man was arrested and at least 18 people were injured after a brawl broke out during Akon 's Monday (10/26) night performance in Melbourne, Australia.
According to local media reports, more than 50 people stormed the entrance to the concert at HiSense Arena, assaulting security guards and instigating fights inside the venue.
Two security guards were "brutally bashed, leaving one with facial injuries and the other with laceration and bruising," according to the Herald Sun.
A 21-year-old man reportedly was taken into custody in connection with the assaults on the security guards.
At least 18 people required medical attention, six reportedly were hospitalized and six others had come forward to police saying they were assaulted at the show, which also featured T-Pain .
During the brawl, which some report was between rival gangs, Akon jumped into the crowd for what he described as a "distraction" to try to stop the fighting, the Australian newspaper reported.
Some eyewitness reports say there were dozens of people involved in a mass brawl, while others claim it was a small group of people moving from one side of the venue to the other "causing problems."
Several video clips of the incident that were posted on YouTube reportedly are being looked over by local authorities.
