Album Chart: Michael Jackson lands posthumous No. 1

"This Is It," the companion album to the just-released documentary of rehearsals for what was to be Michael Jackson's comeback tour, earns the late performer a No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200 chart.

With first-week sales of 373,000 copies, "This Is It" marks Jackson's sixth No. 1 entry on the chart, and posts his best-selling single-week sales total since 1995's "HIStory" debuted in the top slot after moving 391,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan retail figures as reported by Billboard.

Helping spur sales of the album was last week's simultaneous release of the "This Is It" big-screen feature documentary, which details Jackson preparations for a planned 50-show residency at London's O2 arena, which was scheduled to kick off just a few week's after Jackson died. The film was the top-selling ticket at US box offices in its debut week, grossing more than $23 million.

Following "This Is It" into the Top 10 are four other debuts: Creed's "Full Circle," which enters the chart at No. 2 with sales of 110,000 copies; Rod Stewart's "Soulbook" at No. 4 with 84,000 copies; Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Night Castle" at No. 5 with 83,000 copies; and Sting's "If On a Winter's Night" at No. 6 with 80,000 copies.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Taylor Swift's "Fearless" at No. 3 with 109,000 copies; Michael Buble's "Crazy Love" at No. 7 with 71,000 copies; "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" at No. 8 with 69,000 copies; Tim McGraw's "Southern Voice" at No. 9 with 59,000 copies; and Jay-Z's "The Blueprint 3" at No. 10 with 41,000 copies.
