Yo La Tengo maps early 2010 dates
Indie rockers Yo La Tengo will return to North America early next year behind the band's 12th and latest studio album, "Popular Songs."
The veteran group, which is currently in Ireland to launch an extended slate of international dates that includes shows in Europe, Japan and Australia, kicks off the early 2010 run Jan. 22 in Pontiac, MI. Details are below. The band's overseas schedule can be found at Yo La Tengo's website.
"Popular Songs," which hit stores in September, is the band's follow-up to 2006's "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass," which peaked at No. 66 on The Billboard 200.
The new album, recorded in the band's New Jersey rehearsal space, features two songs with string sections put together by jazz composer Richard Evans. The set entered the Billboard album chart at No. 58, the highest debut of the group's career.
A deluxe version of the album includes a vinyl LP featuring the band's original score for the movie "Adventureland."
