Avett Brothers follow 'Love' on path to spring
Folk-rock trio The Avett Brothers have mapped out several months full of performing dates running well into next spring as the band continues to support its recent major-label debut.
The group--which consists of brothers Seth Avett (guitar) and Scott Avett (banjo), along with stand-up bass player Bob Crawford and touring cellist Joe Kwon--kicks off its next stretch of roadwork Dec. 30 in Knoxville, TN. After a New Year's appearance in Asheville, NC, and a pair of early January dates in Atlanta and Dallas, the quartet takes some time off before launching into a more extended leg Feb. 24 in Athens, OH, with a steady stream of shows lined up through next May. Details are included below.
The Avett Brothers continue to support their first major-label release, the Rick Rubin-produced "I and You and Love," which dropped last month on American Recordings. The set peaked at No. 16 on The Billboard 200.
Rubin--who signed the band to the record label--worked on the album with the group in Malibu, CA, and Asheville, NC. "They transcend the genres they're coming from," the producer told Rolling Stone magazine last March.
In late 2008, the Avetts released "The Second Gleam" EP, which debuted at No. 82 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The band's most recent full-length album is 2007's "Emotionalism," which debuted at No.1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 134 on The Billboard 200 chart.
